Allen Ferguson, a beloved youth wrestling coach from Chandler, Oklahoma, tragically lost his life in the recent wildfires while heroically saving his 15-year-old son, Will.
Allen Ferguson was known for his dedication to his family, community, and the sport of wrestling.
Beyond wrestling, he had many talents and interests, including fishing, metal detecting, and Civil War reenactments.
He was a devoted father of four boys, including Will, whom he saved during the wildfires.
Allen Ferguson Heroically Sacrificed His Own Life To Save His Son!
The wildfires in Oklahoma began on March 14, 2025, fueled by high winds and dry conditions.
This caused significant devastation, with multiple fatalities, injuries, and hundreds of homes destroyed.
During the wildfires, Allen and Will were caught in the flames while trying to escape on a four-wheeler.
As they attempted to escape the flames, their vehicle collided with a tree because dense smoke obscured their path.
Allen informed firefighters his son was still trapped. Despite suffering severe burns, he carried his son through the flames to safety, where rescuers found them.
Moreover, he kept speaking to his son during the ambulance ride to keep him calm.
Sadly, he passed away one day after being injured at the hospital on March 15, 2025 at the age of 54.
Regarding the health condition of Will, he is recovering from severe burns and is currently in the hospital receiving treatment.
His condition remains critical, and his family and community are rallying around him, hoping for his recovery.
During this challenging time, Allen’s wife, Deborah, has been actively involved in supporting her son Will’s recovery while mourning the loss of her husband.
She described her husband as a loving and selfless man who always prioritized his family.
Oklahoma House Representative Jim Shaw Described Allen As A “Hero”
Allen was remembered as a devoted father of four and a pillar of his community.
Known for his humor, creativity, and dedication, he engaged in activities ranging from Civil War reenactments to crafting art with his family.
Jim Shaw expressed his condolences and admiration for Allen Ferguson’s heroic actions.
In a heartfelt statement, he said:
