Michael E. Packer, a beloved educator, coach, and family man, passed away peacefully at his home on April 15, 2025, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Known affectionately as “Ace” and “Coach Packer,” Michael E. Packer is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Packer and Rachael Packer. Whereas, he is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Paula D. Grubb.
His demise comes nearly two decades after his wife’s passing; his wife, Paula, took her last breath on December 21, 2005. However, details surrounding Paula’s demise remain concealed.
Michael and Paula were married for over 33 years. They were married on May 20, 1972, and were together until Paula’s passing.

Michael was a loving grandfather to his three grandchildren, Owen Gill, Jackson Gill, and Madelynn Barner.

Similarly, Michael also leaves behind his sister, Sandy Packer Adams; his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Rich) Crawford; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born on December 13, 1950, to George and Margaret “Peg” Packer, Michael grew up in Lock Haven, where he graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1968.
A gifted athlete, he excelled in football, continuing his passion at Lock Haven University (LHU), where he earned a degree in Physical Education with a minor in History in 1972.
During his 35-year career in education, he taught physical education at Lock Haven High School and was the athletic director at both Lock Haven High School and Central Mountain High School.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael E. Packer will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 East Walnut Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745.
Friends and family are warmly welcomed to attend a visitation on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., located at 231 High Street, Flemington, PA 17745.
Whereas, a private interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lock Haven.
