Connor McCaffety, a 16-year-old junior at Rogers Independent School District (ISD) in Texas, along with his parents, Clint McCaffety, 43, and Meghan McCaffety, 39, tragically died in a two-vehicle accident on March 31, 2025.
Connor McCaffety was a standout athlete at Rogers ISD, excelling in both baseball and golf, and was also a dedicated member of the school’s agriculture program.
The McCaffety family is survived by Connor’s 14-year-old sister, Kelsey McCaffety, who was not in the vehicle.
Likewise, Connor McCaffety left behind his grandmother, Lorianne Bland, his aunt, Jenna Bland, and other extended family members.
Connor’s parents, Clint and Meghan, were married for 16 years at the time of their passing. They walked down the aisle on June 14, 2008.
In a little over three months, they would’ve celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary; however, they took their last breath, succumbing to their injuries.
Connor McCaffety’s father, Clint, owned a construction company, McCaffety Services.

The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Highway 36, in a construction zone near the Milam-Burleson county line, near Milano, Texas.
The family was traveling from a high school golf tournament in Brenham to Connor’s baseball game in Rogers when their Ford sedan, driven by Clint, was struck by an 18-wheeler.
Their vehicle was stopped at a flagger’s signal in the westbound lane when an 18-wheeler, driven by a 26-year-old man from Bellmead, failed to stop in time.
The semitruck collided with the McCaffetys’ car, also striking a Kia SUV that had stopped behind them.
All three members of the McCaffety family were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Kia, a 45-year-old woman from Fort Bend, was injured and transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
The impact of the crash forced the closure of Highway 36 for approximately seven hours as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate.
Rogers ISD Superintendent Duana Brashear shared her grief in a statement on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, saying,
It is with overwhelming sadness that I share the tragic loss of Connor McCaffety, a junior at Rogers ISD. Our hearts go out to everyone who is grieving this loss. Our entire district, and the communities we serve, are impacted by this loss.
Superintendent Duana Brashear
We extend our deepest condolences to Connor McCaffety’s sister, Kelsey, and his extended family during this time of significant loss.
