In the viral video, Wes Watson was seen assaulting an individual at Elevation Fitness; some reports also suggested that he used a weapon during the fight.
Moreover, Watson was initially arrested on December 29, 2024, and charged with a simple assault charge, but he was later released.
After the viral fight video, Wes Watson faced backlash from netizens, many of whom claimed he assaulted a man with special needs.
In response to the viral fight video, Watson shared a video on his Instagram on December 30, 2024, claiming that the altercation was an act of self-defense after a taller individual, whom he called a hater, provoked him at the gym.
He wrote:
“A hater came and tired to test me yesterday at the gym, he was at least a foot taller than me and not some normal lookin dude, he was a street lookin MFER, I tired to talk em out of the fight but he insisted and it did not go as he planned, this was complete self defense and he was so badly injured the cops were called by the gym and the ambulance came.”

Wes denied any intention to escalate the violence, stating that the situation spiraled out of control after the man insisted on fighting.
He urged everyone to refrain from discussing the incident online and requested that they remain positive and focused.
However, despite his statement regarding the incident as an act of self-defense, many believed that he needed to be punished for his inhumane behavior.

It is unclear when Wes Watson was granted bail following his arrest in February 2025.
However, his social media posts indicate that he has returned to his normal life and appears to be enjoying time with his family.
Wes Watson Previously Spent A Decade Behind The Bars
This is not the first time fitness coach Wes Watson got incarcerated; he spent ten years in California prison previously.
He was reportedly sentenced to ten years for substance dealing and was also convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury, robbery, and burglary, among other charges.
Moreover, Wes has been open about his time behind bars, often sharing stories of the violence, discipline, and personal transformation he underwent.
During his decade in the California prison system, Watson witnessed extreme brutality and gang culture firsthand.
However, rather than letting his prison experience break him, Watson used it as an opportunity to build mental and physical toughness.
A key part of his transformation came through fitness and self-discipline.
He committed to an intense workout routine, using bodyweight exercises like burpees and push-ups to maintain peak conditioning.
After his release in 2018, Watson turned his prison experience into a successful business.
He founded Watson Fit, where he teaches clients the same mental toughness and commitment that helped him survive prison.
